Panther Points Panorama Elementary recently received their Iowa Tests of Basic Skills (ITBS) results from the 2008-09 school year. Students in grades 3-5 take the tests, which include test sections in math, science, social studies, reading and others. This standardized test provides a snapshot of our students’ achievement and can be a measurement of the district’s progress. It also allows our teachers to investigate the data to see how we can improve ourselves.
The numbers below show the percentage of students who scored in the 41st percentile or higher, which is considered proficient. These results are compared to other students in the nation at their respective grade level. Students who have attended our school district since the last ITBS testing period in February 2008 are included in the data below.

Class of 2017 (current 4th graders) Math 98% Science 95% Reading (Comprehension) 95%
Class of 2018 (current 3rd graders) Math 81% Science 85% Reading (Comprehension) 72%
Again, the ITBS is one way schools can use to show how their students are performing. There are other ways to show students’ progress, such as classroom performance and teacher observation, but using student achievement data can help our students improve academically and allows us to provide a better education at Panorama. We will continue to look at student achievement data and use it as part of our decision-making process.

Panther Points The district completed work on the new elementary school in 1999.
Located just north of the Middle and High Schools, the school includes a large media
center with computers, a 21st century kitchen, an indoor fish pond, and larger
classrooms.
