Welcome to Panorama Community School District

Thank you for visiting our district’s website. We hope the site will be beneficial to those seeking information about our schools. I invite you to browse through the links to research what the district has to offer our students, families and communities.

While we have done our best to share our educational environment through this website, Panorama Schools is best experienced in person. Current and prospective families are always welcome on our campus. I encourage you to tour our attractive campus and facilities to discover the wide range of educational and support services and extracurricular activities provided at Panorama.

Panorama faculty and staff work hard to create an environment of academic challenge and growth; artistic and athletic achievement; social and personal responsibility. Our ultimate goal is to develop our students as critical thinkers, independent learners, and productive citizens, fully prepared to face future challenges.

When you place your children in our care, we take that as a serious responsibility and make every effort to be worthy of your trust. Educating a child is a team effort, so we will work closely with you to ensure the best possible experience for your child. I welcome you to partner with us in this important endeavor.

Thank you for your interest in Panorama Schools.  Be sure to contact us if you have questions about the educational services and programs we have available to serve students.

Respectfully,

Kathy Elliott
Superintendent of Schools

Teachers collaborate on Wednesday morning late starts

Wednesday mornings are very busy times for Panorama teachers. Even though students arrive an hour LATER than usual, teachers arrive at 7:30—a half-hour EARLIER than normal.

Teachers meet collaboratively for 1½ hours each Wednesday morning—7:30 to 9:00—to focus on their own professional learning. The goal at Panorama Schools is to increase the quality of three things: 1) tasks (assignments) given to students; 2) teacher instruction; and 3) student work.

We use a framework called Authentic Intellectual Work (AIW) to accomplish this ambitious goal. AIW is a research-based approach that is the cornerstone for the Iowa Core. It provides standards teachers and administrators use to assess the quality of tasks, instruction and student work.
